Resume Skills
While some people like to think there's no such thing as resume skills, there definitely is. Here's some suggestions on how to make the best resume, and what that entails. We also discuss the functional resume and weigh the pros and cons of this style.
Best Resumes
Having extensive experience reviewing resumes and evaluating peoples resume skills, I consider the best resumes to be chronological resumes. Resumes formatted with work experience from most recent to oldest allows an employer to quickly get a strong overview of a candidate and his or her resume skills without having to read through lengthy paragraphs. You have to remember that these employers will be reviewing hundreds of applicants, so any excuse you give them to ignore you will be taken.
Functional Resume
A functional resume is rather uncommon in most fields and as such, if you're very happy with your resume, you probably should just stick with what you have. However, if when you look at your resume in its current form (likely as a chronological resume), and have trouble seeing yourself as a great sell to employers, it might be worth trying to highlight your resume skills through a functional resume.
